Hilary Crosby

Hilary has performed numerous audits under OMB Circular A-133 and has provided accounting, bookkeeping, and management services to a wide variety of nonprofit organizations.  She has also taught nonprofit financial management at the Institute for Nonprofit Organization Management at the University of San Francisco, and served as treasurer or controller on several nonprofit boards.

Hilary received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University and was awarded a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management by the University of San Francisco.

Hilary’s involvement in her community is extensive.  She has served as a community volunteer in the City of El Cerrito, and on many local and statewide campaigns.  She brings her commitment to efficiency and environmental consciousness to her leisure time, combining exercise with errands by walking as much as possible, and tries to spend time outdoors with her friends.

Adele Kaneda

Adele has been in public accounting since 1988. She was with the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse & Company before her association with a local CPA firm as audit manager. She has planned and executed numerous financial audits of nonprofit organizations, particularly of those requiring audits in accordance with OMB Circular A-133. Other industry experience includes banking, oil and gas, software, and construction industries.

Prior to becoming a certified public accountant, Adele was an educator for the Department of Defense Schools in Asia and Europe, receiving a Sustained Superior Award for excellence in teaching. Throughout the years, Adele has been involved in community service, including the Diablo Valley Foundation for the Aging Bill Payer Program.

Adele is a graduate of Boston University (MS, Business Administration) and the University of Hawaii (M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction). She loves music, plays classical and jazz piano, and enjoys getting together with her nephews to jam.

August Zajonc

August Zajonc received his BA from Pomona College with additional coursework in accounting from UC Berkeley. He is a licensed CPA. August joined Crosby and Kaneda in 2011. Prior to working with Crosby & Kaneda, he worked for 6 years in senior financial roles with a variety of Bay Area nonprofits and 4 years as a Program Finance Officer serving nonprofits with construction and program expansion financing.  He has particular experience with educational organizations, nonprofit healthcare organizations, and foundations.
